Strongest Hashira in Demon Slayer: Gyomei, Rengoku & More

The Hashira are the highest rank within the Demon Slayer Corps. Their title reflects the unique Breathing style in which they have developed their expertise. Each Hashira fights demons in their own way and has developed varying techniques focused on their Breathing style.

The strength of each Hashira varies, as some might use raw strength, while others use tactical knowledge. With the inception of the fourth season of Demon Slayer, each of the Hashira’s abilities would be explored at length. So, this article looks at some of the strongest Hashira from the series.

Gyomei Himejira

The Stone Hashira does not sound intimidating, nor does he appear much of a warrior. However, he is the strongest among all Hashira in the Demon Slayer Corps. Gyomei’s raw strength is unmatched, and it is a force to reckon with.

Since the Demon Slayer Mark was introduced in Season Four, audiences have anticipated the true limits of his powers. He is a cool-headed character who tries to avoid fighting. However, he possesses superhuman abilities ever since he joined the Demon Slayer Corps, which explains why he did not need to go through rigorous training. He put up a significant fight against Kokushibo, the Upper-Moon One demon, which shows how powerful he is.

Kyojuro Rengoku

Kyojuro Rengoku, one of the main characters from the Mugen Train Arc, was the Flame Hashira. He possessed immense power and even pushed Akaza to his limits towards the end of the arc. Although Akaza was able to wound him mortally, Rengoku prevails as one of the strongest Hashira in the series.

Rengoku’s power lies not only in his strength but also in his ability as a strategist. Although he succumbed to his injuries, he eventually accomplished the mission by saving every passenger on the Mugen Train. Outside the battlefield, even his peers could not help but admire his positive energy.

Giyu Tomioka

As the Water Hashira, Giyu is shown as a person who does not interact with others. This is due to his past trauma that holds him back from reaching his true potential. Nevertheless, he is one of the most significant members of the Demon Slayer Corps.

He mastered Water Breathing from the former Water Hashira, Sakonji Urokodaki. He appeared in the first season of Demon Slayer and guided Tanjiro for a whole at the beginning. His prowess is justified by a new form that Giyu created on his own – the Eleventh Form, known as Dead Calm.

Muichiro Tokito

The youngest among the Hashira, Muichiro, is only 14 years old. He joined the Demon Slayer Corps and was quickly promoted to the highest rank because of his immense power. A user of the Mist Breathing, he is one of the strongest Hashira in the series.

Muichiro appears lean and fragile, but as a warrior prodigy, he can overwhelm his opponents. As a matter of fact, one of the strongest demons in the series comes to respect Muichiro for his abilities. The knowledge and spectacular techniques he possesses makes him a pivotal member among the Hashira.

Sanemi Shinazugawa

The Wind Hashira is yet to get much screen time in the anime. Sanemi Shinazugawa boasts an intimidating look, which also exemplifies his powers. He uses Wind Breathing, which combines well with a ruthless style of fighting. Along with this, Sanemi has an arsenal of ferocious techniques.

Sanemi appears a bit different from the other Hashira and radiates a cynical vibe. For instance, his cold-hearted nature was seen when he tortured Nezuko after the Mount Natagumo Arc. Although his methods might not be well-perceived by his peers, Sanemi will eventually appear as a crucial character in the upcoming arcs.
