Demon Slayer Infinity Castle is one of the most riveting arcs in the manga series. It has also garnered the same reputation for its anime adaptation. Recently, Ufotable announced that the arc would be adapted into a film trilogy. The news was well received by fans who couldn’t wait to see Tanjiro and the other demon slayers face off against Muzan and his demons. That said, here are the best fights in the Infinity Castle.
Zenitsu Agatsuma vs Kaigaku
Since the start of the series, Zenitsu has been one of the more popular characters. His journey and development have always put smiles on the faces of Demon Slayer fans. After entering the Infinity Castle, he runs into Kaigaku, his former senior, who is now the Upper Rank Six Demon. The thrilling battle witnesses the two characters with a shared past put it all on the line. They both clash with their Thunder breathing.
However, Kaigaku is stunned by how strong Zenitsu’s swordsmanship and speed have become since their last encounter. Zenitsu reflects on Kaigaku’s taunts and their past together and unleashes his Thunder Breathing, Seventh Form: Honoikazuchi no Kami. The battle is one of the best fights in Infinity Castle, as it shows Zenitsu reaching a near-Hashira level potential.
Tanjiro and Giyu vs. Akaza
The fight between Tanjiro and Akaza is one of the most highly anticipated fights in the series, as Tanjiro hopes to get revenge for Rengoku’s death. However, this time, Giyu Tomioka, the Water Hashira, backs him up. Tanjiro was able to push the demon back, impressing Tomioka.
The teamwork between the two demon slayers was immaculate as they countered every move of the Upper Rank 3 demon. The battle was a major talking point in the series as Giyu and Tanjiro powered up significantly. Giyu awakens his demon slayer mark while Tanjiro obtains the “Transparent World” skill, allowing him to attack without killing intent.
Kanao and Inosuke vs. Doma
Following Shinobu’s death at the hands of Doma, Kanao flies into a rage and attacks the demon. However, he swats her away to finish absorbing Shinobu’s body, leaving just her hairpin behind. While Kanao seems to have an advantage in the beginning, Doma is able to overpower her soon, forcing Kanao to defend against his attacks constantly. He manages to snatch her sword and attack her with his lotuses. However, Inosuke arrives in time to crush the demon’s attack with his Beast Breathing.
Inosuke notices he is the Upper Rank 2 demon and is happy to fight him, believing he would be a Hashira after defeating him. The fight sways back and forth, with Doma proving his prowess against the two demon slayers. However, Doma suddenly feels unwell as Shinobu had completely laced her body in poison before the demon consumed her. They are finally able to defeat the demon, thanks to Shinobu’s poison.
Muichiro Tokito, Genya Shinazugawa, Sanemi Shinazugawa, & Gyomei Himejima vs. Kokushibo
The match against Kokushibo was undoubtedly one of the best yet heartbreaking fights in the arc. Kokushibo showed why he was ranked one among the upper demons, as it took multiple people to face him. In fact, Muichiro and Genya succumbed to the injuries that were inflicted by the former demon slayer.
The intervention of both Sanemi and Gyomei Gyomei witnesses the two Hashira unlocking their demon slayer marks. The two coordinate flawlessly with their combination attacks on the demon. However, it was Muichiro’s sacrifice that gave them the advantage needed to defeat the Upper Rank One Demon.
Mitsuri Kanroji and Obanai Iguro vs Nakime
The iconic Hashira couple teamed up to take on the new Upper-Rank Four Nakime in another exciting battle. Mitsuri engages the demon, using her technique to go straight for the demon’s neck. However, Nakime quickly counters with her Blood Demon Art. Obanai asks Mitsuri to be careful since they do not yet understand Nakime’s abilities.
The Biwa Lady conjures columns to crush them, but Obanai evades them while Mitsuri gets caught. While Nakime successfully fools Mitsuri with another door, Obanai takes the chance to attack her neck, but she evades. Eventually, Yushiro joins the Hashiras and takes control of Nakime’s vision to shift the castle walls. He uses his talisman and drills a hole into Nakime’s head. Taking hold of Nakime’s cells, he successfully transports Muzan Kibutsuji and the demon slayers back to the real world.
