The Apothecary Diaries episode 22 recap
The Apothecary Diaries episode 22 revolved around Lakan and his bizarre challenge to Jinshi. The strategist gushes over the beauty of the blue roses that he adorned in the palace. Eventually, he subtly challenges Jinshi to grow Blue Roses till the following month’s garden party.
As always, Jinshi seeks Maomao’s help after losing all hope. Maomao initially hesitates but readily accepts the task once she realizes Lakan’s potential involvement in it. Hence, she begins preparing to grow the roses, wearing herself out every day and night. Xiaolan also helps Maomao with the task.
At the garden party, Jinshi successfully presents the Blue Roses before the emperor while Lady Loulan’s father introduces her. Maomao later reveals that she had dyed white roses blue and had already informed the emperor of the trick.
While working on the roses, Maomao introduces the trend of applying crimson-colored nail polish among palace ladies. Later, it is revealed that Lakan has face blindness and that the only things that catch his attention are bright-colored objects.
Hence, this hints that Maomao might know much more about her biological father than what meets the eye. Moreover, she seems to be onto something as she tries to grab Lakan’s attention by suddenly appearing in front of him at the end of the episode.
