Kotetsu and Tanjiro take the sword from the doll, only to see that it’s rusty. Suddenly, Haganezuka shows up and insists that he will take care of the sword. Kanamori tickles Haganezuka to knock him out. He proceeds to explain why Haganezuka disappeared and mentions that he’s been training to forge a better sword for Tanjiro. Haganezuka gets up and takes the rusty sword but gives Tanjiro another one to use.
While eating, Tanjiro continues to try to befriend Genya. However, Genya still shuts him out. Meanwhile, Gyokko and Hantengu infiltrate the village. Muichiro shows up in Tanjiro’s room, asking if he knows Kanamori. Tanjiro offers to go with Muichiro, but Hantengu appears. Muichiro manages to slice off his head, but two more demons show up. Karaku sends Muichiro flying away, while Sekido almost knocks Tanjiro out with an electric attack. However, Genya attacks the two, and more demons appear.
One demon flies and takes Tanjiro away, while another is attacking Genya. Muichiro quickly rushes back to the scene and sees Kotetsu being attacked by a fish-like demon. At first, he chose to ignore him, but after remembering what Tanjiro told him, he comes back for Kotetsu and rescues him.
