Jackson Dunn (Shameless), David Denman (13 Hours, Power Rangers), Meredith Hagner (Search Party, Younger) and Matt Jones (Mom, Home) have joined Elizabeth Banks to round out the cast of the Untitled James Gunn Horror Project produced by James Gunn and The H Collective. David Yarovesky’s will direct from a script written by Brian and Mark Gunn. The H Collective will fully finance the project and produce alongside Gunn and his company Troll Court Entertainment. The James Gunn horror thriller began principal photography last week.
Dunn recently appeared in Showtime’s award-winning series Shameless created by Paul Abbott and John Wells and can next be seen in Mark Landre Gould’s upcoming western Gone are the Days.
Denman’s recent film credits include Steven Soderbergh’s crime dramedy Logan Lucky alongside Channing Tatum, Daniel Craig, Adam Driver and Riley Keough, Lionsgate’s sci-fi adventure Power Rangers, and Michael Bay’s 13 Hours starring John Krasinski and Pablo Schreiber for Paramount.
Hagner can most recently be seen in TBS comedy Search Party as well as Darren Star’s Younger for TV Land alongside Hilary Duff and Sutton Foster. Her recent film credits include Matt Spicer’s Ingrid Goes West, which earned an Independent Spirit Award for “Best First Feature” earlier this month. Hagner can next be seen in Netflix’s ensemble comedy Set It Up alongside Zoey Deutch, Lucy Liu, Taye Diggs and Glen Powell.
Jones can most recently be seen in William H. Macy’s The Layover alongside Alexandra Daddario and Kate Upton for Vertical Entertainment, as well as the voice of “Kyle” in DreamWorks Animation’s Home. His recent TV credits include Golden Globe-nominated comedy Mom starring Anna Farris and Allison Janney for CBS and POP TV’s Let’s Get Physical alongside AnnaLynne McCord, Jane Seymour and Chris Diamantopoulos.
Gunn, whose credits included mostly fan-favorite horrors prior to writing and directing Guardians of the Galaxy, is responsible for turning the Marvel property into one of the most memorable franchises in the Marvel universe. Gunn’s horror films like the critically-acclaimed Slither and Super, both of which he wrote and directed, have garnered cult-like followings and have been named some of the best horror films in the genre. Slither, which marked Gunn’s directorial debut and first united Gunn and Banks, is currently featured on Rotten Tomatoes as one of the “Top Ten All-Time Best Reviewed Horror Films.”
The H Collective is a global film finance, production, marketing and distribution company that is producing a diversified slate of four high-quality films per year. They are currently in post-production on Christopher Cantwell’s The Parts You Lose starring Aaron Paul, Scoot McNairy and Mary Elizabeth Winstead with Mark Johnson’s Gran Via Productions.
