James Mangold’s Ten Films that Inspired and Influenced ‘The Wolverine’

Director James Mangold took to Twitter to post ten images from ten films he said “inspired / influenced” his latest directorial outing, The Wolverine.

He didn’t include the names of the films so I won’t either, though you could mouse over the images and the name will pop up in a tool tip or just scroll to the bottom of this post where I have listed them all in order.

Fox’s marketing of this movie so far has been a bit odd. The Super Bowl came and went and it hits theaters on July 26 and yet, we still haven’t seen a single trailer or even a teaser. Mangold has actually done all the heavy lifting in terms of marketing, keeping fans busy on Twitter with reveals such as this.

The Wolverine is based on the celebrated comic book arc, and finds Logan (Hugh Jackman), the eternal warrior and outsider, in Japan. There, samurai steel will clash with adamantium claw as Logan confronts a mysterious figure from his past in an epic battle that will leave him forever changed. Jackman is joined in the film by co-stars Will Yun Lee, Svetlana Khodchenkova, Hiroyuki Sanada, Hal Yamanouchi, Tao Okamoto, Rila Fukushima and Brian Tee.

Check out the film’s influences below and thanks goes out to Slashfilm for the heads up on on this one. Which of these films have you seen? You going to be sure and watch them all before The Wolverine hits theaters?
