Deadpool & Wolverine is currently dominating the box office, having already earned over $590 million globally. The movie effectively signaled a resurgence for Marvel Studios, which had been struggling with sub-par projects for a long time. Aside from such accolades, Deadpool & Wolverine has also managed to set an unlikely record on the swearing front.
Deadpool & Wolverine says ‘f***’ over 100 times
With an F-bomb counter of over 100, the Shawn Levy directorial feature has broken the record for featuring the most curse words in the Deadpool franchise.
According to the New York Post, Deadpool & Wolverine recorded a mind-boggling 116 F-bombs during its 128-minute runtime. Several F-words could also be heard during the brief post-credits scene. This takes the threequel past its predecessor, Deadpool 2, which had a curse-word counter of 90.
The addition of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine to the franchise, alongside the foul-mouthed Deadpool, has also seemingly contributed to elevating the swear count. His claw-bearing superhero is especially known to have an aggressive demeanor, as seen in Jackman’s appearances in the X-Men movies. James Mangold’s Logan was able to break the cursing barrier due to its R-rating, allowing Wolverine to use the F-bomb. It infamously recorded a swear counter of 40 F-words.
Deadpool & Wolverine served as the first R-rated film in the MCU. Nevertheless, the movie’s unhinged usage of foul language still pales in comparison to other Hollywood classics. Projects by the legendary Martin Scorsese and Quentin Tarantino have contributed the most to the industry in this aspect. Scorsese’s Casino boasts an F-bomb counter of 422, as per The Hollywood Reporter.
Meanwhile, Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs also have a high swear counter of 265 and 269, respectively. Nonetheless, Scorsese’s Wolf of Wall Street takes the crown when it comes to swearing, recording an eye-watering 569 F-bombs during its runtime.
