As Deadpool & Wolverine continues to enjoy its record-breaking success at the box office, its cast and crew have shared more previously unseen behind-the-scenes images and video clips. Recently, director Shawn Levy posted a photo on Instagram featuring several stars from the film. Meanwhile, Jennifer Garner took to the same platform to share her training routine to prepare for her return as Elektra Natchios.
Deadpool & Wolverine director shares cameo-filled behind-the-scenes image
On his Instagram page, Levy shared a Deadpool & Wolverine cast photo with Garner, Ryan Reynolds, Dafne Keen, Wesley Snipes, Hugh Jackman, and Channing Tatum, all of whom can be seen in the costumes of their respective characters. “If there’s a Director heaven, I think I found it,” Levy wrote in the caption.
In the film, Reynolds’ Deadpool and Jackman’s Wolverine escape from Emma Corrin’s Cassandra Nova while they are in the Void and encounter a resistance group comprising Elektra, Keen’s X-23, Snipes’ Blade, and Tatum’s Gambit. Previously, Keen portrayed Laura / X-23 in Logan, while Snipes appeared as Blade in Blade, Blade II, and Blade: Trinity. Tatum had been attached to play Gambit in a film that spent several years in development before Disney ultimately scrapped it.
Jennifer Garner shares her BTS training routine for Elektra return
Garner, who worked with both Levy and Reynolds in the 2022 Netflix feature The Adam Project, shared a video montage of her training for the movie. “I remember the moment @slevydirect [Levy] and @vancityreynolds [Reynolds] had the idea for Elektra Natchios to show up in @deadpoolmovie 3— we were on the set of The Adam Project and they gave each other this look they have that can communicate an idea, 20 pages of dialogue, nuclear codes— there is a crazy artistic kismet between those two,” the Family Switch actress wrote in the lengthy caption.
Garner played Elektra in Daredevil (2003) and Elektra (2005). In the post, she remarked that while she didn’t know that she and Elektra needed an ending, Levy and Reynolds did. “They are gifted in many ways, but seeing and elevating people around them is at the top of the list,” Garner added. “Shauna [Garner’s stunt double, Shauna Duggins] and I were in heaven on set with them, with my old pal @thehughjackman [Jackman], @dafnekeen [Keen], @channingtatum [Tatum], @realwesleysnipes [Snipes].
According to Garner, filming the fight scene was “fun” and felt “truly like a dream.” She concluded, “I’m proud of my friends and grateful to be up there with them. Thank you doesn’t cut it, guys, but it’s a good placeholder until I figure out what does.”
