Leave the World Behind features a mysterious QR code that has proven to be hard to scan for many. But what does it lead to? Here’s all the information you need about the QR code in Leave the World Behind and where it leads.
What is the QR code in Leave the World Behind?
In Leave the World Behind, when the Map of the US gets displayed on TV along with the news of a cyber-attack, a secret QR code shows up being placed over Kentucky.
After 34 minutes pass in the film, we can see the hidden QR code on TV, which was also spotted in the above teaser at 00:33. QR codes hidden in certain movies mostly end up leading to fun little Easter Eggs or references related to the film. But that doesn’t seem to be the case with Leave the World Behind.
It has proven to be hard to even get scanned by many. However, some viewers have been successful in finding the link that it leads to.
What does the QR code link to in Leave the World Behind?
The secret QR code in Leave the World Behind links to the webpage describing the “LAKE SHAWNEE ABANDONED AMUSEMENT PARK” in Mercer County, Kentucky, USA.
Viewers who successfully scanned the QR code arrived on a page of Visit Mercer County that described the abandoned Lake Shawnee Amusement Park. This is said to be a creepy and haunted location where a lot of mishaps happened in the 20th Century.
There doesn’t seem to be any direct connection between this Mercer County location and Leave the World Behind. After all the film takes place in Long Island, which is far from Kentucky. However, its various dark and bleak incidents indirectly fit with the dark and twisted themes of Netflix’s latest post-apocalyptic thriller.
