Alongside the confirmation of the Stranger Things spin-off, a new stage play based on the hit series, and a live-action Death Note adaptation, Upside Down Pictures is also set to work on a series adaptation of the 1984 novel The Talisman, written by Stephen King and Peter Straub.
The series will be created by Stranger Things‘ Co-EP and writer Curtis Gwinn (via Deadline), with Matt Duffer noting the series is much more fantasy. “It has sci-fi. It has horror elements. It has a lot of heart. It has everything that we love. And it’s got the best werewolf character I think, ever.”
The Talisman follows the story of a young man who moves between New Hampshire and an alternate world known as “The Territories,” where he must obtain an artifact that will help save his mother’s life.

Alongside the news of The Talisman adaptation, it was also announced that the production company would be working on a brand-new original series from creators Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews, who both developed the 2020 Netflix series The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, which was a prequel to the 1982 Jim Henson film The Dark Crystal. Not too much was confirmed about this new series, however, so fans will have wait to hear more information.
