Jamie Campbell Bower gave an outstanding performance in his portrayal of Vecna in the fourth season of Stranger Things. With the villain likely to return for its fifth and final season, Bower spoke about what Vecna’s motivations might be.

For those unaware, Vecna is defeated at the end of Season 4 of Stranger Things but is not killed. Instead, the character seems to escape, with the season ending on an ominous cliffhanger that sees the main cast watching as the world around them begins to decay. While Vecna may be defeated, he’s not gone just yet, with Bower noting that he’s angrier than he’s ever been after this latest defeat.
“He’s pissed [laughs],” Bower told ComingSoon. “If you thought he wasn’t pissed before he’s pissed now. Yeah, the vengeance. If it were me on a personal level, if I’m talking about if somebody did that to me, I’m coming for you.”
While we don’t know exactly what will happen in the upcoming fifth season of Stranger Things, we do know that the series will feature a time jump of sorts. Recently, The Duffer Brothers also confirmed that the fifth season will be a bit faster-paced than the fourth season, and that the episodes will be a bit shorter, except for what they are calling a “Return of the King-ish” finale that will have “like, eight endings.”
Recently, Stranger Things Season 4 set a record for Netflix, having been viewed for more than 287 million hours during the week of May 23-30. That’s not only good enough for the top spot of the week for Netflix, but it’s also more than enough to break the record for the streaming platform’s biggest-ever premiere weekend for an English-language series, which was previously held by season two of Bridgerton (193 million hours).
