According to Deadline, Marvel Cinematic Universe vet Chris Evans is currently in the final talks to star opposite Emily Blunt in Netflix’s forthcoming thriller drama titled Pain Hustlers. Pain Hustlers will be directed by David Yates from a screenplay written by Wells Tower. The outlet notes that the project is being described as something similar to The Big Short and American Hustle in terms of its tone. Netflix officially acquired the global rights to the project for around $50 million last May.
“The film follows Liza Drake (Blunt), a high-school dropout dreaming of a better life for her and her young daughter,” reads the synopsis. “Liz lands a job with a failing pharmaceutical startup in a yellowing strip mall in Central Florida. Her charm, guts, and drive catapult the company and her into the high life, where she soon finds herself at the center of a criminal conspiracy with deadly consequences.”

Pain Hustlers will be produced by Yates and Yvonne Walcott Yates for Wychwood Pictures along with Lawrence Gray of Grey Matter Productions, Cyrus Mojibi, Patrick Wade, Lawrence Kao, and Lloyd Everard. Executive producers are Lewis Taylor and Ben Everard.
In addition to this upcoming thriller, Evans is also currently attached to star in a number of high-profile films, such as Apple’s Ghosted alongside Ana de Armas, the space race film Project Artemis which reunites him with Scarlett Johansson, and the action-comedy Red One with Dwayne Johnson.
