WWE Hall of Famer Booker T has shared his perspective on Logan Paul’s time as the United States Champion. Paul claimed his first WWE singles title, the United States Championship, by defeating Rey Mysterio at WWE Crown Jewel.
Throughout Logan Paul’s title reign, he faced significant criticism from fans who were unhappy with the infrequency of his title defenses. His first defense came against Kevin Owens at the Royal Rumble in January. This was followed by a high-stakes triple-threat match against Owens and Randy Orton at WrestleMania 40.
Despite these defenses, Paul’s reign ended last weekend at SummerSlam, where he lost the championship to LA Knight. Over his 279-day reign, Paul became the third-longest reigning US Champion in WWE history.
Even though Paul’s reign drew criticism from fans, WWE backstage officials viewed it more favorably. They appreciated the extensive publicity Paul brought to the championship and the numerous high-profile appearances he made while holding the title. His time as champion, despite the mixed reactions, contributed significantly to WWE.
Before his title defense against LA Knight, Logan Paul had defended the United States Championship only twice. Despite this, WWE Hall of Famer Booker T has praised Paul for his impressive performance and impact.
Booker T gives major props to Logan Paul’s WWE US title run
On his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T discussed Logan Paul’s run with the United States Championship. He commended Paul for not only making a strong impression but also for maintaining his relevance and credibility.
He stated, “Especially a guy that just walked into the business with zero experience, right into the main event, WrestleMania with The Miz taking on the Mysterios. Definitely, that’s not something you’re never gonna see ever again, I’m serious. I’m talking about a guy that has sustained and actually been relevant enough to where people believed him in that position. I got to give Logan Paul a hell of a lot of credit man, a hell of a lot of credit because like I said, I really don’t think we’re going to see anybody come from the outside world, and not just have a match but this guy went on a run.”
After losing the title, Logan Paul remains engaged in his feud with LA Knight. Before their match, Knight had stolen Paul’s Maverick PRIME energy truck on SmackDown. At SummerSlam, Knight caused damage to the vehicle, prompting Paul to issue a legal notice to him. It appears that the conflict between Paul and Knight is far from over.
