WWE Superstar Drew McIntyre Shares Thoughts on CM Punk’s Vince McMahon Reference

WWE Superstar CM Punk made a reference to Vince McMahon during a promo battle against Drew McIntyre. The March 25 edition of WWE Raw, which took place in Chicago, the hometown of the Second City Saint, featured many stars, including The Rock, Cody Rhodes, and Seth Rollins. However, the talking point of the show was CM Punk’s reference to Vince McMahon.

Vince McMahon stepped down from the board of directors in January following a lawsuit from a former employee. This also led to WWE not mentioning McMahon’s name on TV. However, during a heated confrontation on the March 25 edition of WWE Raw, Drew McIntyre referred to himself as “The Chosen One,” a moniker given to him by Vince McMahon in 2009. CM Punk capitalized on this, questioning McIntyre, who gave him the name.

During a recent interview with The UK Metro, Drew McIntyre shared his thoughts on Punk, mentioning Vince McMahon on Raw. He stated, “What was going through my mind was I could respond right now, and would it be a good look for our company? And I have to make a decision because we’re going O.K. Corral-style, unloading rounds on each other. I did what I thought was right for not just the company, but for our roster, and held my tongue on that night. I had a couple of things in mind that would have melted the internet, but potentially hurt us in different ways.”

Drew McIntyre on professionalism and self-control in WWE

Drew McIntyre mentioned that he had a couple of things that would have been a huge talking point on the internet during his confrontation with CM Punk, where Punk made a reference to Vince McMahon. Speaking in the same interview, McIntyre emphasized the importance of professionalism and being good at his job. He stated, “If you see Drew McIntyre going off those lines, swearing and saying things like ‘wow, this is gonna potentially hurt himself or the company or the roster’, then it’s because I have lost it. You’ve gotta be professional and good at your job. If anything, it makes it more compelling because you know… we just don’t like each other.”

While McIntyre decided to hold back his thoughts against CM Punk, his trolling of Punk has sent the fans into a frenzy. Recently, he trolled Punk for being stuck in the WWE headquarters and went further by putting Punk’s crying face on a giant screen at the headquarters.
