AEW star MJF reacted to the news of the expiry of the contract of former WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens. The latter recently mentioned in an interview that his contract with WWE will expire in a few months.
MJF, who held the longest-reigning world championship in AEW for 406 days, lost his title at AEW World’s End in December. Since then, MJF hasn’t appeared on any All Elite Wrestling programs. Despite his absence from AEW, he responded to Kevin Owens’ WWE contract news.
Owens, whose contract expires in a few months, was referenced by MJF. He took to Instagram to share an image of Kevin Owens from his ROH days along with his ROH theme. It is noteworthy that AEW president Tony Khan also owns ROH. This action raises speculation about whether MJF is hinting at Owens joining ROH or AEW, but only time will tell.
Kevin Owens discloses WWE contract expiry details
WWE Superstar Kevin Owens, who re-signed with WWE in 2021, has had a prominent run since then. Owens has headlined WrestleMania twice, notably facing Steve Austin in an impromptu match in 2022 and later winning the WWE Tag Team Championship with Sami Zayn. However, it appears that Owens’ current deal with the company is nearing its end.
Speaking in an interview with Metro, Owens revealed that his contract with WWE is set to expire in nine months. He stated, “I really don’t take anything for granted, I’ve nine months left on my contact, and I don’t know what can happen from here on out.”
Owens also explained that he intends to stay with WWE. He mentioned, “This has been my home for 10 years and it’s beyond the locker room. There’s some very, very, very special people that work behind the scenes that I’ve become very close with, and I really can’t imagine not seeing them as part of my life.”
While Owens’ contract is set to expire, it does not appear that he will be looking to work outside of WWE.
