With WWE’s WrestleMania 40 being hailed as the biggest of all time, attention has already shifted to what the WWE has in store for WrestleMania 41. The latest reports suggest that a marquee match between The Rock and Cody Rhodes is in the works for the following year.
During the recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez stated that WWE is planning for The Rock vs. Cody Rhodes face-off at WrestleMania 41. Alvarez elaborated on the duo’s encounter, “But as I’m scrolling through, it’s like, that’s all everybody’s talking about is ‘what did the Rock give Cody? What do you think he gave him?’ That’s what people love. They love a mystery.”
Bryan Alvarez further added, “…they have to follow the show every week to find out what’s going on in the story. And this is going to be a long-term mystery because Rock is leaving, but I thought it was very, very clever what they did because clearly, they’re doing Rock and Cody one-on-one. I mean, that was made patently obvious in this segment here.”
In the conversation, Dave Meltzer said, “Well, that is certainly the plan right now. Yes. And not for a long time. Next year’s WrestleMania.” In addition, Alvarez shared that the upcoming editions of Wrestlemania will be more exciting than ever. He said, “…if he thinks he can do two more years, then it should be Rock and Cody next year and Rock and Roman Reigns a year after. And that’s two gigantic WrestleMania you got based on those matches.”
The Rock issues massive warning to Cody Rhodes on WWE RAW
At WWE WrestleMania 40, Cody Rhodes emerged as the WWE Undisputed Champion. The following night on RAW, The Rock confronted him. They shared a memorable moment, exchanging their titles briefly. Along with this, The Rock announced his hiatus from WWE. However, he promised that upon his return, he would be coming after Cody Rhodes.
The segment concluded with The Rock stating that Rhodes’ story with Roman Reigns has come to an end. However, he believes that his story with Rhodes has just begun. Fans are speculating about The Great One’s potential return with regard to WWE SummerSlam. It will be interesting to see when he intends to make his comeback.
