Recent reports had hinted at The Rock’s impending departure from WWE after WrestleMania 40. Plans for him to start filming his next movie role suggest that he may not be a regular presence on WWE programming in the near future.
In a recent interview with ESPN leading up to WrestleMania, The Rock, alongside Brian Gewirtz, shed some light on his future with the company post-WrestleMania. The Rock affirmed that he remains part of WWE’s plans beyond WrestleMania, emphasizing his ongoing commitment. He stated, “I’m not off the board after WrestleMania. I’m still on the board, and I will always be a part of this. And we are in it now. This is our thing and will forever be our thing.”
Brian Gewirtz suggested that while The Rock will not appear regularly on WWE RAW, he will be present in different roles. Gewirtz stated, “But I do think there’s gonna be a Rock presence in WWE going forward until whenever he doesn’t want to. I could definitely say that this isn’t [over a] day after WrestleMania and I’m gonna go off into the sunset now.”

The Rock’s post-Wrestlemania plans have been unveiled. He will be focusing on his film career. The Rock is gearing up to portray an intriguing character in an upcoming drama produced by A24. In the film, titled The Smashing Machine, he will step into the role of a famous MMA fighter.
Coincidentally, filming for “The Smashing Machine” will begin after WWE WrestleMania 40. Benny Safdie, known for his 2019 film Uncut Gems, is set to direct the upcoming A24 biopic. The Rock will portray Mark Kerr, a formidable figure in the MMA world and two-time UFC Heavyweight Tournament Champion. The film draws inspiration from the gripping 2002 HBO documentary of the same title.
