Mercedes Mone recently opened up about the detailed planning behind AEW Big Business and her initial conversations with President Tony Khan. The debut marked a significant moment as she kicked off AEW Big Business in her hometown of Boston, Massachusetts, setting the stage for the next chapter in her wrestling career.
During her appearance on the Stick to Wrestling Podcast, Mone shared insights into the planning of AEW Big Business and that Tony Khan had been strategizing and envisioning ‘Big Business’ for quite some time. Moné expressed, “I knew for a while (about AEW Big Business). That’s why it’s all about big business. I am big business baby. I’m the CEO of AEW so, me and Tony (Khan) have been planning things for a while and we’re just in the works of so many more incredible things.”
Reflecting on her initial conversation with Khan about joining AEW, Moné described it as “amazing.” She explained, “It was amazing (first call with Tony Khan about joining AEW). We’ve been talking for quite some time now and I just think the alignment felt so right to now in 2024 and yeah, it’s just been so many beautiful things in the works. When he called me the first time, I’m like, ‘I’ll think about it TK. We gotta build this relationship. Let me keep on watching, let me keep on seeing this women’s division’ and I kept on watching the women’s division and my dreams just became so much bigger and brighter and I knew instantly, I wanted AEW to be my home.”

In the same interview, Moné highlighted her strong working relationship with Khan and AEW’s EVPs. She stated, “We work together as a partnership. I love my EVPs, I love my Chairman, As the CEO. I just bring so much more money to the table.”
Mone made a stunning announcement on AEW Dynamite, revealing her debut match. She will face the winner of the Willow Nightingale vs. Julia Hart match at AEW Double or Nothing in May.
