Cody Rhodes is determined to become the WWE World Champion, undeterred by the recent comebacks of CM Punk and The Rock.
Roman Reigns stands out as one of the most dominant champions in recent memory, shattering multiple records and pursuing some iconic achievements. Securing the WWE Universal Championship in 2020 and adding the WWE Championship to his accolades in 2022.
Since claiming these titles, Reigns has maintained a stronghold, amassing an impressive reign of over 1200 days as the champion. In the main event of WrestleMania 39 last year, Cody Rhodes squared off against Roman Reigns.
Rhodes earned the opportunity to challenge the Undisputed WWE Champion after winning the Men’s Royal Rumble in 2023. However, Rhodes faced an unexpected loss at WrestleMania 39 against Reigns.
Despite the setback Rhodes remains determined to carry on and fulfill his wrestling story by becoming the WWE Champion.
Initially, it seemed destined for Rhodes to win the 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble and challenge Reigns again at WrestleMania 40. However, the landscape shifted with the return of CM Punk at Survivor Series and The Rock at Day 1 Raw.
In a recent interview with SI, Rhodes addressed the challenge, acknowledging the star-studded roster but expressing unwavering determination.
“The Rock is The Great One–he’s still electrifying. CM Punk is one of the greatest stars in the history of wrestling. I know what I’m up against. Look at the roster–it’s loaded with stars. But that doesn’t bother me. I’m not flinching. I’m not rooting against anyone else, I’m just working to make it happen.”
It will be interesting to see what the outcome unfolds at this year’s Royal Rumble scheduled to take place on 27th January.
CM Punk sent a message to Cody Rhodes on WWE RAW
Drew McIntyre on the latest WWE RAW by expressing frustration over Damian Priest’s interference in his previous match against Seth Rollins. Additionally, he shared some pointed remarks about Punk’s standing in WWE. He suggested that he should follow Punk example and leave WWE only to return to a hero’s welcome after years.
Following the remarks on CM Punk, Punk interrupted him, and both engaged in a heated confrontation. Punk specifically mentioned that opponents like Drew McIntyre, Seth Rollins, and Cody Rhodes won’t be able to prevent his victory in the Royal Rumble.
The segment ended with CM Punk declared his intention to eliminate Drew McIntyre last in the Royal Rumble.
