AEW star Jon Moxley has squarely set his sights on newly-signed AEW talent Will Ospreay ahead of their clash at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 18. The rivalry between Jon Moxley and Will Ospreay has a storied history, with the two stars first locking horns in a singles match at NJPW in 2022. Moxley emerged victorious in that encounter at the NJPW Windy City Riot, showcasing his dominance over Ospreay.
Their paths crossed once again in a fatal four-way match for the IWGP United States Heavyweight Title, a showdown that ended with Juice Robinson as the winner at NJPW Capital Collision 2022.
Now, with Will Ospreay set to face Jon Moxley, the stage is set for another epic showdown at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 18. Moxley has set his sights on the former IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion on January 4, 2024, in the Tokyo Dome.
In an interview with NJPW’s official website, Moxley reflected on their previous clash, hinting that their feud had only just begun. “Well, it’s lucky that referee isn’t here anymore. If he had stayed, he should’ve been fired. Myself and Will Ospreay went to war all over Chicago in 2022. We gave all we had, blood sweat and tears and braincells. At the end of the day I had my hand raised, but I think we all know that Will had a little bit more in the tank. If Will wasn’t done, I wasn’t gonna be done. So, if Will wants to keep it going, if he just wants to call that chapter one, then let’s just say that was chapter one. Just the beginning, just the preamble. Will Ospreay and I have barely even begun.”
Moxley, fresh off a victorious run in the gold league finals, defeated Swerve Strickland and Jay White to secure a spot in the AEW Continental Classic Finals, where he will face Eddie Kingston this Saturday at Worlds End.
When will Will Ospreay start with AEW?
Will Ospreay’s next destination, following the end of his contract with New Japan Pro-Wrestling in February 2024, has been unveiled. He is now officially part of AEW.
In November, Tony Khan hinted at a new roster addition during the Full Gear pay-per-view, and that revelation turned out to be Ospreay. At Full Gear, Ospreay appeared in a segment where he formally inked his AEW contract. He announced that his journey within All Elite Wrestling would kick off during the Road to Revolution, scheduled for March.
With Ospreay joining AEW, it becomes intriguing to speculate about his first opponent in this new wrestling chapter.
