Midway into the week, the WWE rumor mills have been churning out quite the spread. To begin with, New Japan Pro-Wrestling star Will Ospreay will be a free agent. As it is, reports have been circulating that the organization is looking to sign up for the known name in their ranks.
Also adding to the buzz is Brock Lesnar‘s reported absence from Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia next weekend. This means the former WWE champion’s hiatus will continue. Besides, this will mark the first time Lesnar has missed out on the marquee event in Saudi Arabia.
At the other end, CM Punk and Impact‘s working relationship has screeched to a halt regarding money matters. According to Fightful Select (h/t Felix Upton of Ringside News), the former was making “15 to 20 times” more annually in AEW than what Impact usually pays its big names. The site also added that Punk isn’t necessarily keen on signing with Impact.
The biggest update, however, is the possibility of Ospreay joining the company, and why it is a win-win for both parties.
More on WWE star Will Ospreay’s contract
While there isn’t a standard number that’s being put on paper, Will Ospreay’s WWE contract will surely generate headlines. On his part, Ospreay confirmed his interest in signing with the organization, and family appears to be the primary reason. Speaking to Metro, he also opined that his body could use a change of scenery.
“As age has become more apparent to me and my body is hurting more and more,” Ospreay said. “I’m open to all avenues. I’ve had a lot of talks with my friends about this, and I have spoke to the missus. “
Earlier, he had revealed that his NJPW contract expires in February. This means WWE has a chance to rope him in as Wrestlemania 40 hits the halfway mark. His signing would also mean stiff competition for the other stars, given Ospreay is regarded as one of the best ring performers.
