Stars Kathryn Hahn, Kevin Bacon and Griffin Dunne join I Love Dick creators Jill Soloway and Sarah Gubbins
This Friday, Kathryn Hahn headlines the first season of Amazon Studios‘ innovative indie comedy drama I Love Dick. Based on Chris Kraus’ groundbreaking 1997 tome of the same name, the series hails from two-time Emmy Award-winning Transparent creator Jill Soloway and playwright Sarah Gubbins, and also stars Kevin Bacon and Griffin Dunne. CS recently had the chance to sit down with I Love Dick‘s cast and crew and, in the player below, you can take a behind-the-scenes look at what went into developing Kraus’ unique ficto-memoir for the small screen.

I Love Dick follows a married couple, Chris and Sylvère (Kathryn Hahn and Griffin Dunne) as they move to the artistic hub of Marfa, Texas so that Sylvère can study with a renowned professor and artist, Dick (Kevin Bacon). Chris immediately develops a strong physical attraction to Dick that begins in manifest in some unexpected ways. The series using Kraus’ unique writing style as jumping off point to explore issues of gender identity and how closely those issues are tied to one’s artistic expression.
I Love Dick, which originally debuted on Amazon as a pilot last year, was greenlit for a first season back in September of 2016 alongside Amazon show Jean-Claude Van Johnson and The Tick. Look for all eight I Love Dick season one episodes to be available Friday, May 12 via Amazon Prime Video.
