Variety reports that Kathryn Hahn (Transparent) is taking on the title role in Mrs. Fletcher, the comedy pilot ordered by HBO. The pilot is based on the New York Times bestselling novel of the same name by Tom Perrotta, the mind behind the book The Leftovers, which was also adapted into a series by Perrotta and Damon Lindelof for the network.
Mrs. Fletcher follows an empty-nest mom Eve Fletcher (Hahn) and her college-student son as they embrace their newfound freedom with mixed results. Eve, hoping to jump-start her love life, adopts a sexy new persona and discovers that her world is full of unexpected erotic possibilities. The show is a dual coming-of-age story, exploring the impact of internet porn and social media on intimate relationships.
Perotta will write the pilot and also executive produce alongside Jessi Klein, Sarah Condon, and Nicole Holofcener who is also directing the pilot. Perotta’s novel is described as a “timeless examination of sexuality, identity, parenthood, and the big clarifying mistakes people can make when they’re no longer sure of who they are or where they belong” particularly on the frontlines of America’s culture wars.
Hahn earned an Emmy Award nomination for her role in the Amazon series Transparent and recently starred in another show for the streaming site, I Love Dick. Hahn’s recent movie credits include Bad Moms, A Bad Moms Christmas, and the drama Private Life starring alongside Paul Giamatti and Molly Shannon.
