Although Yvette Nicole Brown’s Shirley Bennett and Jonathan Banks’ Buzz Hickey are not be back as series regulars this year, stars Joel McHale, Alison Brie, Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, Jim Rash and Ken Jeong are set to be joined by Paget Brewster as Francesca “Frankie” Dart, a consultant brought in to help improve Greendale, and Keith David as Elroy Patashnik, a washed up inventor who decides to return to college as a means of reinventing himself.
Written by Clay Lapari, “Intro to Recycled Cinema” is directed by Victor Nelli, Jr. and is officially described as follows:
“Chang (Jeong) leaves Greendale to pursue fame in Hollywood. Abed (Pudi) agrees to complete his unfinished film with the support of Frankie (Brewster), her movie producer friend Maury (guest star Steven Guttenberg) and Jeff (McHale).”
“Community” was created by Dan Harmon and ran on NBC for five seasons before moving to Yahoo! Although the show’s fan-championed battle cry has been for “Six Seasons and a Movie,” Harmon has recently said that he hopes for the show to live on long beyond that. Plans for a feature film, however, are already being considered.
