The first trailer for Bodkin sees Will Forte playing a true-crime podcaster in Netflix’s new dark comedy series.
Netflix has released the first trailer for Bodkin, a new dark comedy series that comes from Barack and Michelle Obama’s Higher Ground Productions. The trailer sees characters played by Forte (MacGruber, The Last Man on Earth), Siobhán Cullen (Origin, The Dry), and Robyn Cara (Doctor Jekyll, The Rising) embark on a quest to solve a cold case in a small Irish town that may not be so cold after all.

What is Bodkin about?
“Bodkin is a darkly comedic thriller about a motley crew of podcasters who set out to investigate the mysterious disappearance of three strangers in an idyllic, coastal Irish town,” the synopsis reads. But once they start pulling at threads, they discover a story much bigger and weirder than they could have ever imagined.”
According to Deadline, Bodkin will have seven episodes. The series was created by Jez Scharf, who serves as a co-showrunner alongside Alex Metcalf. Barack and Michelle Obama executive produce Bodkin alongside Tonia Davis, David Flynn, Paul Lee, and Nne Ebong.
Along with Forte, Cullen, and Cara, Bodkin stars David Wilmot (Anna Karenina, Calvary) and Chris Walley (The Last Voyage of the Demeter, 1917).
Bodkin marks the first scripted drama series that Higher Ground Productions has been a part of. The company has previously produced a number of children’s series — including Waffles + Mochi, We the People, and Ada Twist, Scientist — and a number of documentaries such as 2019’s American Factory and 2020’s Crip Camp.
The company also produced films such as 2021’s Fatherhood, 2021’s Worth, 2023’s Rustin, and 2023’s Leave the World Behind.
Bodkin releases on Netflix on May 9, 2024.
