AMC+ has dropped the official Sanctuary: A Witch’s Tale trailer for its upcoming supernatural drama. The series will make its debut on January 4 on AMC+ and Sundance Now with the first two episodes, followed by new episodes airing weekly.
The video introduces a world where witches are accepted into society. However, when a tragedy strikes the small town of Sanctuary, compelling evidence leads residents to believe that a murder was committed using magic. This ultimately puts a target on the back of the town’s resident witch.

What is Sanctuary: A Witch’s Tale?
“Sanctuary: A Witch’s Tale is set in a contemporary world where witchcraft is real. It takes place in the idyllic English town of Sanctuary, where for hundreds of years witches have lived peacefully, as valued members of society,” reads the synopsis. “Until now…at the heart of the story is Sarah Fenn, Sanctuary’s resident witch, on whom the town relies to solve their problems when conventional remedies have failed. When local teen rugby star, Dan Whithall, dies tragically in an apparent accident, his death exposes a terrifying undercurrent of suspicion and fear towards Sarah and her teenage daughter, Harper.”
Sanctuary: A Witch’s Tale is created and written by Debbie Horsfield from a screenplay written by Debbie Horsfield, based on the novel by V.V. James. It stars Elaine Cassidy, Amy de Bhrun, Hazel Doupe, Stephanie Levi-John, Valerie O’Connor, Kelly Campbell and Stephen Lord. The 7-part series is executive produced by Monumental Television, with Lisa Mulcahy and Justin Molotnikov serving as directors.
