Gaslit First Look Photos & Teaser Featuring Sean Penn & Julia Roberts

The first official look at Starz’s upcoming series Gaslit, starring Julia Roberts and Sean Penn, was revealed, including a brief teaser as well as some new images.

The teaser for Gaslit highlights Roberts as Martha Mitchell, a celebrity socialite from Arkansas and wife to President Richard Nixon’s Attorney General John N. Mitchell (Penn).

Despite being so closely associated with Nixon, Martha is the first person to publicly note Nixon’s involvement in the infamous Watergate scandal, which sets off a smear campaign against her from the White House. The series is based on Slate’s award-winning podcast Slow Burn, the first season of which was developed by Robbie Pickering (Mr. Robot) as a modern take on Watergate that focused on Martha Mitchell.

The drama also explores the other untold stories and forgotten characters of the notorious chapter in American history, including Nixon’s bumbling, opportunistic subordinates, deranged zealots aiding and abetting their crimes, and the tragic whistleblowers who would bring the whole rotten enterprise crashing down.
