Sacha Baron Cohen Says No More Who is America?

Sacha Baron Cohen took to Twitter to announce that his half-hour series Who is America? has ended for good, with the final episode airing last night on Showtime. Make sure to check out the tweet below, which also contains a video compilation of the criticism directed towards the show, and let us know what you think.

Famous for creating a roster of iconic moments and incendiary characters, Baron Cohen returned to series television for the first time in more than a decade, writing and directing Who is America? In the series, Cohen appeared as all-new characters including Billy Wayne Ruddick Jr., PhD, Dr. Nira Cain-N’Degeocello, Rick Sherman, Erran Morad, Gio Monaldo, and OMGWhizzBoyOMG!

The show was compared frequently to Baron Cohen’s previous show Da Ali G Show. Da Ali G Show ran for three seasons on both Channel 4 and HBO, and involved segments featuring Cohen doing stunt interviews in disguise as his three signature characters of Ali G, Borat Sagdiyev and Brüno, all of whom eventually received movie spin-offs. The new series on Showtime involved similar ideals including segments with Bernie Sanders, Dick Cheney, Joe Arpaio, Jill Stein, and other divisive figures.

The full series is available for streaming on the Showtime website.
