Matt Ryan to guest star as Constantine on Arrow
Straight from The CW’s TCA presentation today comes some great news for fans of the cancelled NBC series “Constantine,” as it has been revealed that star Matt Ryan will appear as everyone’s favortie con-man-magician in the fourth season of “Arrow.” Ryan will guest star in one episode of the new season, meaning the realm of DC Comics shows just got even more connected.
“Arrow” stars Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen, Katie Cassidy as Dinah “Laurel” Lance, David Ramsey as John Diggle, Willa Holland as Thea Queen, Emily Bett Rickards as Felicity Smoak, John Barrowman as Malcom Merlyn, with Paul Blackthorne as Detective Lance. The series is executive produced by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, Andrew Kreisberg and Sarah Schechter.
After defeating his most formidable foe to date and riding off into the sunset with longtime flame Felicity Smoak, Oliver Queen (a.k.a. The Arrow) left Starling City with the hopes of beginning a new life. But will Oliver ever truly be able to leave behind his past as the Arrow, and, if so, what becomes of the team he has worked so hard to assemble? Will Diggle, Thea, and Laurel be left to continue Oliver’s crusade without him? And with Malcolm Merlyn having ascended to the top of the League of Assassins as the new Ra’s al Ghul, is anyone really safe?
“Arrow” will premiere its fourth season on Wednesday, October 7 at 8:00pm ET/PT.
UPDATE: It has been revealed by The CW that the episode in question will be titled “Haunted” and, while an official air date has not yet been announced, we do have the following official description:
John Constantine is a weather worn exorcist and expert on the supernatural and the occult. He is a detective, magician, and a hunter of demons, and will provide critical support to Oliver when arrows aren’t enough.
“We are thrilled to have Matt Ryan reprise the role of John Constantine on an upcoming episode of Arrow,” says executive producer Marc Guggenheim. “Matt is an incredibly talented actor and his portrayal of this beloved character was always something we admired. The introduction of magic and mysticism on the show this season has provided a truly organic opportunity for us to bring John Constantine to ‘Arrow’ and the CW’s DC Universe. It will be a well-deserved tip of the hat to all the Constantine fans who were so incredibly supportive of that series.”
Ryan, meanwhile, has also posted his own special message to “Constantine” and “Arrow” fans. Check it out in the player below:
