James Franco to Headline Stephen King’s 11/22/63

Academy Award nominee James Franco (127 Hours, Spring Breakers) is set to headline the recently-announced Hulu Original series “11/22/63,” an adaptation of Stephen King’s bestselling novel from J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions, executive producer and writer Bridget Carpenter and Warner Bros. Television.

Published in 2011 by Scribner, “11/22/63” is a thriller in which high school English teacher Jake Epping (Franco) travels back in time to prevent the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. But his mission is threatened by Lee Harvey Oswald and his falling in love and the past itself… which doesn’t want to be changed.

Planned as a nine-hour event series, “11/22/63” marks the first original programming collaboration between Hulu and WBTV. Abrams and King serve as executive producers alongside Bridget Carpenter and Bryan Burk with Bad Robot’s Kathy Lingg serving as co-executive producer and Franco producing alongside Athena Wickham.

Franco recently starred in The Interview, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s R-rated political satire, which made headlines the world over. He can next be seen in Rupert Goold’s True Story, starring opposite fellow Oscar nominees Jonah Hill and Felicity Jones.
