The long-running British period drama Call the Midwife has recently received the official Netflix release date for its thirteenth season. Set in the 1950s, the series showcases the journey of several nursing midwives as they navigate the challenges and struggles of their lives. The show has already completed the airing of its latest season in the U.K. and has now confirmed its premiere schedule for the U.S. audiences.
Call the Midwife Season 13 and Christmas special confirm Netflix release date
Call the Midwife Season 13 will be following its established Netflix release date pattern. The latest season of the show will come out on Netflix U.S. on September 2, 2024.
The BBC series began filming for its thirteenth season in Longcross way back in May 2023, as per What’s on Netflix. Following the production phase, Call the Midwife maintained its long-standing tradition of releasing a Christmas special before premiering its new season. Season 13 subsequently came out on PBS in the U.K. in January 2024.
Call the Midwife has mostly followed a fixed-release trend, making its latest content available for U.S. audiences through Netflix in September. Resorting to this pattern, all nine episodes of Season 13, including the Christmas special, will drop on the American streaming platform on September 2, 2024.
Notably, the Netflix release date for Call the Midwife is exclusive to the U.S. region. Netflix U.K. previously housed most seasons of the show, before the structure was altered in 2023. At the time of writing, the platform only has Season 10 in its content library.
Nevertheless, fans of the drama series can rest assured regarding its fate. BBC has already renewed the series through to 2026, delving further into the convoluted lives of the midwives. As a result, seasons 14 and 15 of the show have already received the green light from its creators. Filming for the next season could begin sometime later this year.
