Co-creator Jemaine Clement has shared an update about the possibility of Time Bandits Season 2. This comes ahead of Apple TV+‘s upcoming fantasy adventure, which will debut on Wednesday, July 24 with the first two episodes.
“The series follows an eccentric crew of bandits embarking on epic adventures while evil forces threaten their conquests and life as they know it,” reads the logline. “As the group is transported through time and space, the gang stumbles upon fascinating worlds of the distant past while seeking out treasure, depending on Kevin to shed light on each situation. The Time Bandits witness the creation of Stonehenge, see the Trojan Horse in action, escape dinosaurs in the prehistoric age, wreak havoc during medieval times, experience the Ice Age, ancient civilizations and the Harlem Renaissance, and much more along the way.”
What did Jemaine Clement say about Time Bandits Season 2?
During a recent interview, Clement confirmed that he and co-creator Taika Waititi have started writing the scripts for the potential Time Bandits Season 2, even though Apple TV+ has yet to issue an official renewal order.
“We are actually writing a second season, but it depends on if people watch the first season,” Clement revealed (via ComicBook). “If no one watches it, we throw it away in a bin. But I cannot tell you because I don’t want to spoil the second season.”
Based on the cult classic movie of the same name, Time Bandits is created and executive produced by Clement, Waititi and Iain Morris, who are also serving as directors and writers on select episodes. In addition, Clement and Morris has also signed on as showrunners. The series stars Lisa Kudrow, Kal-El Tuck, Tadhg Murphy, Roger Jean Nsengiyumva, Rune Temte, Charlyne Yi, Rachel House, Kiera Thompson, James Dryden, Felicity Ward, Francesca Mills, and Imaan Hadchiti, with special guest appearances by Waititi and Clement.
