Sirens: Kevin Bacon & Glenn Howerton Join Julianne Moore Netflix Series

Update: Kevin Bacon (Footloose) and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia star Glenn Howerton have been added to the series. Bacon will play Michaela’s husband, Peter Kell, who comes from a prestigious rich family. He’s described as an outdoorsman who smokes pot. Meanwhile, Howerton will play Ethan Corbin II, a friend of the Kells and a lifelong bachelor. He’s said to be a trust fund baby who frequents a yacht club.

Julianne Moore, Milly Alcock, and Meghann Fahy are all set for lead roles in the upcoming Netflix series Sirens. Described as a dark comedy, the project hails from Maid creator Molly Smith Meltzer and is based on her play Elemeno Pea.

The Oscar-winning Moore, who recently starred in May December and the Starz show Mary & George, will play Michaela Kell. A philanthropist and animal activist, Moore’s character is comfortable in high society and is the wife of billionaire Peter Kell. Her relationship with her assistant, Simone, seems too close for comfort.

Alcock, known for her role as the young Rhaenyra Targaryen in House of the Dragon, plays Simone DeWitt. In addition to being Michaela’s assistant, Simone is described as charming and smart. She feels as though she’s hit the jackpot by working with Michaela.

Fahy, who broke out as Daphne in The White Lotus Season 2, portrays Devon DeWitt. On a downward spiral back in her hometown, Devon is described as funny, resilient, and fiercely protective. That’s especially true when it comes to her younger sister, Simone.

What is Sirens about?

Told over the course of a weekend at a lavish beach estate, the dark comedy zeroes in on Devon when she starts to realize that her sister Simone has a very creepy relationship with her new boss Michaela Kell. Perceived as an enigmatic socialite, Michaela’s cult-like approach to a life of luxury is like a drug to Simone. Eventually, however, Devon decides that it’s time for an intervention. But once Devon tracks Simone down to confront her, she has no clue what a formidable opponent Michaela will be.

First announced in February, Sirens will see Meltzer serve as writer, showrunner, and executive producer as part of her Quiet Coyote banner. Dani Gorin, Tom Ackerley, and Margot Robbie will also executive produce for LuckyChap. Nicole Kassell is set to direct the first two episodes in addition to serving as executive producer. It marks the first project under Metzler’s overall deal with Netflix, which she signed following the breakout success of Maid.

Available to stream on Netflix, Maid debuted in October 2021. The ten-episode dramedy starred Margaret Qualley as a young mother who begins working as a maid after leaving her abusive boyfriend. The series received several accolades, including an Emmy nomination for Qualley, and was Netflix’s fourth most-watched show that year.
