Euphoria Season 3 received a promising update from Casey Bloys, chairman and CEO of HBO and Max Content. While speaking with Variety, Bloys discussed his conversations with Euphoria creator Sam Levinson, who plans to execute a time jump and set the upcoming third season outside high school.
“Sam is working on it. There’s been a lot of back and forth… One of the issues I think that Sam is thinking about is that he doesn’t want to have it in high school anymore,” Bloys said.”That’s where it was set and what made sense then. So when you take it out of that, there’s a lot of back and forth about where to set it and how far in the future to set it and all that stuff. But I think he’s got a take that he’s excited about, and he’s busy writing.”
Which actors will return for Season 3? Variety asked about the status of stars Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, and Hunter Schafer. Bloys confirmed the quartet’s involvement, stating the “same core cast” is scheduled to reprise their roles for Season 3.
What to Expect in Euphoria Season 3?
Euphoria Season 3 has suffered numerous delays. The 2023 Hollywood work stoppages, Angus Cloud’s tragic passing, and a reported conflict between Levinson and HBO over Season 3 have caused the delays. However, the series still has a targetted release date of 2025, though filming has not begun.
Besides the four actors mentioned above, Euphoria’s core cast includes Maude Apatow, Eric Dame, Alexa Demie, Nina King, Storm Reid, and Colman Domingo.
Written and developed by Sam Levinson, Euphoria follows a group of high school students as they struggle to move through the worlds of drugs, sex, identity, trauma, social media, love, and friendship. Season 1 premiered in 2019, while Season 2 arrived in 2022. The show has transformed into a ratings juggernaut for HBO, with the second season becoming one of HBO’s three-most watched series alongside Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon.
