Miranda Cosgrove shares her hopes for a potential continuation of Carly Shay’s story. In an interview with ET during the screening of her new rom-com, Mother of the Bride, the actress stated that she’d still love to wrap up the iCarly saga with a movie.
The original Nickelodeon sitcom ran from 2007 to 2012, spanning six seasons. Paramount+ then picked up iCarly for a series revival, which premiered in June 2021. The reboot series was canceled in October 2023 after only three seasons.
“I had a great experience getting to come back and do it for a few seasons, for sure. But I’d love to still be able to wrap up the story in some way,” Cosgrove told ET. “Maybe, hopefully, someday, we’ll still do it. I feel like it would probably be more along the lines of maybe a movie, that would kind of wrap it all up or something like that. So that’s what I’m hoping for.”
Cosgrove added, “I want to know who Carly’s mother is as much as [fans do]. It seems like a lot of people were hoping to see that.”
What is iCarly about?
The original series follows Carly Shay as she tries to balance her normal teenage life and her career as a host for a web show called iCarly. The Paramount+ reboot series then picked up nine years after the original’s finale, following Carly Shay as she decided to relaunch her once-popular iCarly show.
“Ten years after signing off of one of TV’s most iconic shows, Carly, Spencer, and Freddie are back, navigating the next chapter of their lives, facing the uncertainties of life in their twenties,” the synopsis for the iCarly reboot series reads.
The Paramount+ series also starred Jerry Trainor as Spencer Shay, Nathan Kress as Freddie Benson, Mary Scheer as Marissa Benson, Laci Mosley as Harper, Jaidyn Triplett as Millicent, Jeremy Rowley as Lewbert, Patty Guggenheim as Tinsley, Poppy Liu as Double Dutch, and more.
