As the release date for the Fallout series approaches, series star Walton Goggins explained why there is more to his Cooper Howard character than its creepy exterior, considering everything he went through in the past before he came to be the nose-less bounty hunter now known as Ghoul.
In an interview with Empire ahead of the upcoming show’s April 10 release, the actor shared some insights about what to expect from the character created specifically for the Prime Video series.
“I want to survive and I will do anything in order to survive,” said Goggins. “You have to understand the world that he was living in beforehand to really contemplate the horrors that he’s seen over the last 200 years and why he’s still alive . . . Why doesn’t he just succumb to becoming a [feral] ghoul or put a bullet in his head?”

What is Fallout about?
Set in the post-apocalyptic Wasteland after a nuclear war, the upcoming television series is based on the popular 1997 role-playing video game series of the same name that has since spawned various iterations.
Per the official synopsis, Fallout — which hails from Westworld creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy — “is the story of haves and have-nots in a world in which there’s almost nothing left to have. 200 years after the apocalypse, the gentle denizens of luxury fallout shelters are forced to return to the irradiated hellscape their ancestors left behind — and are shocked to discover an incredibly complex, gleefully weird and highly violent universe waiting for them.”
Apart from Goggins, Fallout will also feature Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, Kyle MacLachlan, Xelia Mendes-Jones, and more.
All episodes of Fallout will start streaming on Prime Video on April 10 at 6 p.m. PT.
