Star Trek: Discovery Season 5 Includes More Adventure, Has ‘Amazing’ Start

Star Trek: Discovery star David Ajala teased that there will be more “fun” and “adventure” in the upcoming fifth and final season of the sci-fi series.

Star Trek: Discovery Season 5, which will hit Paramount+ on April 4, will see the return of Ajala as Cleveland “Book” Booker. With the final season looming closer on the horizon, the Falling Water actor revealed on the Syfy Sistas podcast that the upcoming season will have an “amazing” start.

“What’s so amazing about this new season is the way it starts. There is no warm up . . . It’s just straight in. There is so much adventure in this new season. There’s so much fun. There’s so much heart. There’s so much love in it,” the actor said.

What to expect in the final season of the Star Trek series?

Back in September last year, actor and director Jonathan Frakes said that the series will head back to its action-adventure roots, stating that the viewers will be treated to “a new energy and a new mandate.”

According to the official synopsis, the final installment of Star Trek: Discovery “will find Captain Burnham and the crew of the U.S.S. Discovery uncovering a mystery that will send them on an epic adventure across the galaxy to find an ancient power whose very existence has been deliberately hidden for centuries.”

The seventh Star Trek series, which debuted in 2017, is created by Bryan Fuller and Alex Kurtzman. In addition to Ajala, the series also stars Doug Jones as Saru, Mary Wiseman as Sylvia Tilly, Blu del Barrio as Adira, Anthony Rapp as Paul Stamets, Callum Keith Rennie as Rayner, and Wilson Cruz as Dr. Hugh Culber, among others.

Star Trek: Discovery Season 5 premieres on Paramount+ on Thursday, April 4.
