The hit Disney+ series Percy Jackson and the Olympians is returning for a second season, Disney announced on Wednesday.
During its financial report, Disney confirmed that the series has officially been renewed for a second season at Disney+. The next season of the series will see the continuation of Percy (Walker Scobell), Annabeth Chase (Leah Sava Jeffries), and Grover Underwood (Aryan Simhadri) as they set off on a new set of adventures, based on the second book of Rick Riordan’s book series, The Sea of Monsters (via Deadline).
“I can’t wait to bring the next season of Percy Jackson to Disney+!” Riordan said in a statement. “Raise anchors. Hoist the mainsail. All hands on deck, demigods. We’re heading for the Sea of Monsters!”
The news also comes just a week after the finale for Season 1 of the series landed on Disney+. Ayo Davis, president at Disney Branded Television, praised the series, and said the company was “thrilled” to be bringing it back for another season.
“Rich in magic, wonder, adventure and heart, Percy Jackson and the Olympians captivated the imaginations of viewers of all ages everywhere,” said Davis. “We’re thrilled to embark on an exciting new quest and a season two with Rick Riordan, our fantastic partners at 20th Television, and the exceptional ensemble of cast and creative talent that bring this story to life.”
