Obliterated Canceled at Netflix as Season 2 Hopes Dashed

Obliterated, which hails from the creators of Cobra Kai, will not be receiving a second season, Variety confirmed. Netflix has decided not to move forward with Season 2, though the reason behind the cancellation is still unknown.

While Cobra Kai has been an enormous success on the streamer — so much so that its sixth season is already looming on the horizon — Obliterated unfortunately did not achieve the same accomplishment.

According to What’s on Netflix, based on a number of Netflix Top 10 lists, although the action dramedy performed well upon its release in 2023, the show’s viewership has been falling behind over time, placing below other shows. This factor alone could have led to the show’s cancellation.

Obliterated joins other recently canceled shows on the streamer, including Human Resources, Shadow and Bone, Glamorous, Captain Fall, Agent Elvis, Farzar, Lockwood & Co., Sex/Life, Uncoupled, and 1899, among others.

What is Obliterated about?

Created by Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Josh Heald, the eight-episode series follows a special forces group that recently prevented a dangerous threat to Las Vegas — or so they thought. After their celebratory party full of drugs, booze, and sex left them intoxicated, the team soon realized the bomb they deactivated was fake all along. They then set out on another mission to find where the real bomb is before it’s too late.

The official synopsis for Obliterated reads: “A special forces team thwarts a deadly plot in Sin City and parties accordingly. But when the real threat emerges, they must sober up to save Las Vegas.”

Obliterated starred Shelley Hennig as Ava Winters, Nick Zano as Chad McKnight, Alyson Gorske as Lana Kirkwood, C. Thomas Howell as Hagerty, Eugene Kim as Captain Paul Yung, Paola Lázaro as Angela Gomez, and more.
