What to Expect in Wizards of Waverly Place Sequel Series?
Disney Branded Television recently announced that Wizards of Waverly Place is getting a follow-up series with Henrie and Gomez reprising their roles as siblings Justin and Alex Russo. Gomez will guest star in the pilot, while Henrie will be a series regular. New cast members include Janice LeAnn Brown as Billie, a young wizard Justin mentors; Thiele as Roman Russo, Justin’s oldest song; and Mimi Gianopulos as Giada, Justin’s wife.
“The series picks up after a mysterious incident at WizTech, where an adult Justin Russo has left his wizard powers behind, opting for a normal, human life with his wife and two sons,” the official synopsis reads. “But he gets a surprise when a powerful young wizard in need of training shows up at his door . . . and Justin must embrace his past to ensure the future of the Wizard World.”
The Wizards of Waverly Place revival pilot stems from writers and executive producers Thomas and Jed Elinoff. Henrie and Gomez are attached as executive producers alongside Gary Marsh and Fickman, with Fickman directing.
Created by Todd J. Greenwald, Wizards of Waverly Place aired from 2007-2012 on Disney Channel. The series followed siblings Alex, Justin, and Max Russo (Jake T. Austin) as they train to become wizards in New York City.
