Prime Video has canceled three shows, per Deadline, as Harlan Coben’s Shelter, The Horror of Dolores Roach, and With Love will not be back for new seasons. A specific reason for the cancellations, although it’s mentioned that the number of series is expected to decline now that the strikes are over.
According to one estimate, the number of live-action scripted shows in 2022 reached 599. As streamers and broadcast networks cut back on programming, analysts have suggested that number could be cut by half. The news follows Netflix’s cancellations of several originals, including Shadow and Bone.

“Harlan Coben’s Shelter follows the story of Mickey Bolitar, after the sudden death of his father leads him to start a new life in Kasselton, New Jersey,” according to a synopsis.
The eight-episode series stars Jaden Michael as Mickey Bolitar, Constance Zimmer as Shira Bolitar, Adrian Greensmith as Arthur “Spoon” Spindell, Abby Corrigan as Ema Winslow, Tovah Feldshuh as Bat Lady, Sage Linder as Rachel Caldwell, Brian Altemus as Troy, and more.
Harlan Coben and Allen MacDonald are showrunners and executive producers, alongside executive producers Edward Ornelas and Erik Barmack. Charlotte Coben serves as a producer and Patricia Cardoso as director and executive producer. The project marks the first collaboration between Prime Video and Coben, who is an award-winning novelist.
As for The Horror of Dolores Roach, the series is based on the hit Spotify podcast series of the same name. It’s “a contemporary Sweeney Todd-inspired urban legend of love, betrayal, weed, cannibalism, and survival of the fittest. Dolores Roach (Justina Machado) is released after an unjust 16-year prison sentence, and she returns to a gentrified Washington Heights,” per the official synopsis.
The cast includes Alejandro Hernandez, Kita Updike, and K. Todd Freeman. The series hails from Aaron Mark, who created, wrote, and directed the original podcast and penned the series pilot script.
He also serves as co-showrunner and executive producer with Dara Resnik, alongside executive producers Daphne Rubin-Vega; Jason Blum, Chris McCumber, Jeremy Gold, and Chris Dickie for Blumhouse Television; Dawn Ostroff, Mimi O’Donnell, and Justin McGoldrick for Spotify; Gloria Calderón Kellett for GloNation Studios; and Roxann Dawson, who directed the pilot.
With Love, which ran for two seasons, it’s a “romantic dramedy centered on siblings Lily and Jorge Diaz, as they navigate big life changes and rely on their equally big family to get them through. Following her whirlwind romance with Santiago, Lily decides to focus all her energy on a personal journey of self-love, by growing her makeup styling business and looking into homeownership.”
The cast includes Emeraude Toubia as Lily Diaz, Mark Indelicato as Jorge Diaz Jr., Rome Flynn as Santiago Zayas, Desmond Chiam as Nick Zhao, Vincent Rodriguez III as Henry Cruz, Isis King as Sol Perez, Todd Grinnell as Dr. Miles Murphy, Constance Marie as Beatriz Diaz, and Benito Martinez as Jorge Diaz Sr.
