John Wick franchise executive producer Basil Iwanyk discussed the possibility of The Continental Season 2 in an interview with Collider, sharing that “there’s more story to tell.”
Will The Continental Return For Season 2?
Iwanyk said: “The one common emotion of all the John Wick movies, when we’re shooting them, and with the John Wick TV show, is that we never talk about sequels. We’re so terrified and desperate to make sure the stuff we’re doing works.”
The EP continued: “We don’t wanna tempt the movie and television Gods and have them say, ‘Oh, you’re getting cocky and talking about a sequel? Well, f— you!’ I don’t wanna anger them. I wanna be humble in front of them. [Another] reason for that is for practical purposes because we don’t know what we’re doing and there’s a writers’ strike.”
The Continental is described by Peacock as a three-part event. The first episode debuts on Friday, September 22, with the second following on September 29. The final episode drops on October 6.
“The three-part event will explore the origin behind the iconic hotel-for-assassins centerpiece of the John Wick universe through the eyes and actions of a young Winston Scott,” per the official logline. “He’s dragged into the Hell-scape of 1970’s New York City to face a past he thought he’d left behind. Winston charts a deadly course through the hotel’s mysterious underworld in a harrowing attempt to seize the hotel where he will eventually take his future throne.”
Cast members include Colin Woodell, Mel Gibson, Mishel Prada, Ben Robson, Hubert Point-Du Jour, Nhung Kate, Jessica Allain, Ayomide Adegun, Jeremy Bobb, and Peter Greene.
The Continental is executive produced by Greg Coolidge, Kirk Ward, and Shawn Simmons. Executive producers are Kolstad, Stahelski, Basil Iwanyk, David Leitch, Shawn Simmons, Paul Wernick, Rhett Reese, and Erica Lee. Episodes are directed by Albert Hughes and Charlotte Brandstrom.
