Strange Planet: Adult Animated Series Sets Apple TV+ Release Date

Apple TV+ has announced the release date for its upcoming adult animated series Strange Planet, which will feature the voices of Danny Pudi and Hannah Einbinder. The whimsical comedy will be available for streaming on August 9. New episodes will debut weekly on Wednesdays through the season finale on September 27.

What is Strange Planet about?

“The series is a hilarious and perceptive look at a distant world not unlike our own,” reads the logline. “Set in a whimsical world of cotton candy pinks and purples, relatable blue beings explore the absurdity of everyday human traditions.”

Strange Planet is based on the popular web comics and best-selling graphic novel by Nathan W. Pyle, who is co-creating and executive producing the series adaptation with Emmy-winning executive producer Dan Harmon (Rick and Morty). The 10-episode series’ voice cast includes Tunde Adebimpe (Rachel Getting Married), Demi Adejuyigbe (The Amber Ruffin Show), Lori Tan Chinn (Awkwafina Is Nora from Queens), Danny Pudi (Community), and Hannah Einbinder (Hacks).

The project was given a straight-to-series order back in June 2021. Executive producers are Alex Bulkley, Corey Campodonico, Lauren Pomerantz, Amalia Levari, Steve Levy and Taylor Alexy Pyle. It hails from Apple Studios and ShadowMachine. The latter is the animation studio behind multiple adult animated shows, including BoJack Horseman, Ten Year Old Tom, Tuca & Bertie, Little Demon, and the Clone High revival.
