According to Deadline, Netflix has officially welcomed the addition of The Outsider actor Max Beesley to The Gentlemen cast for the upcoming series adaptation of Guy Ritchie’s 2019 crime film. This marks Beesley’s latest collaboration with Ritchie after working together in the Jason Statham-led action thriller Operation Fortune.
He will be joining previously announced cast members Theo James, Giancarlo Esposito, Vinnie Jones, Joely Richardson, Kaya Scodelario, Daniel Ings, Peter Serafinowicz, and Alex Rodney. Further details about their characters are still being kept under wraps.
Who’s Involved in The Gentlemen Series?
The Gentlemen series will see The White Lotus alum playing Eddie Halstead, “who has inherited his father’s sizeable estate only to discover that it’s sitting on top of a weed empire owned by the legendary Mickey Pearson. Has this straight-up soldier got what it takes to master the dark arts of the British criminal underworld and take control of the entire operation?”
The Netflix series is written and executive produced by Ritchie and Matthew Read, with the former also directing the first two episodes. Executive producers are Read, Ivan Atkinson, Marn Davies, Bill Block, Marc Helwig, Will Gould, and Frith Tiplady, with Hugh Warren as set as a producer. The project hails from Miramax TV and Moonage Pictures.
The 2020 film was considered a commercial success, with a worldwide gross of $115 million. It starred Matthew McConaughey, Hugh Grant, Collin Farrell, Henry Golding, Michelle Dockery, Charlie Hunnam, Jeremy Strong, and Eddie Marsan.
