The latest made-for-TV film will mark the third of 14 films Trey Parker and Matt Stone have agreed to make for the streamer when they signed a massive, $900 million deal with ViacomCBS last year, with the first two films — South Park: Post Covid and South Park: Post Covid: The Return of Covid — launching in 2021. The fourth made-for-TV film will premiere sometime later this summer.
Check out a new teaser trailer for South Park: The Streaming Wars, which will be streaming June 1 on Paramount+, below:
“Cartman locks horns with his mom in a battle of wills, while an epic conflict unfolds and threatens South Park’s very existence,” reads the official synopsis of the upcoming film. Alongside the made-for-TV films, South Park has also been continuing its run on television, as the 25th season of the series recently wrapped earlier this year, after six episodes airing on Comedy Central.
South Park follows a group of unruly Colorado kids, Cartman, Kenny, Stan, and Kyle, along with their outrageous and colorful town, through all of their foul-mouthed adventures — while never shying away from controversial social and political topics.
South Park was created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone. The Emmy and Peabody Award-winning series is executive produced by Parker, Stone, Anne Garefino, and Frank C. Agnone II. Eric Stough, Adrien Beard, Bruce Howell, and Vernon Chatman are producers.
It was announced in August 2021 that Stone and Parker signed a new deal with ViacomCBS for $900 million, running through 2027, which included a multi-season renewal of the animated comedy series at Comedy Central, as well as 14 original South Park hourlong movies for Paramount+.
