According to Variety, Blue Bayou filmmaker Justin Chon has found his next project with Apple TV+. This comes hot on the heels of the epic global drama Pachinko, which just recently debuted. Chon has officially signed on to helm and executive produce the first two episodes of the upcoming historical drama titled Chief of War, starring Jason Momoa.

Chief of War will be co-written and executive produced by Momoa and Thomas Pa’a Sibbett, with Doug Jung set as the showrunner. The epic story follows the unification and colonization of Hawaii from an indigenous point of view. This marks Momoa’s latest collaboration with Apple TV+, following the sci-fi drama See, which has already scored a third season renewal.
The series will be executive produced by Jung, Francis Lawrence, Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, and Erik Holmberg. It is a produced by Endeavor Content and Chernin Entertainment.

Momoa will next be seen in a number of high-profile projects including the long-awaited Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, where he will once again reprise the DC superhero. He has also recently joined the cast of Fast & Furious 10, and will also star in Francis Lawrence’s fantasy comedy-adventure Slumberland.
