According to Deadline, Golden Globe nominee Ciarán Hinds has signed on to star opposite Daredevil star Charlie Cox in Netflix’s forthcoming limited drama Treason, centering around an MI6 agent and his wife as their relationship changes with the arrival of a Russian spy. The Irish actor is set to portray the role of Sir Martin Angelis, described as the boss and mentor to Cox’s Adam.
Hinds most recently starred in Kenneth Branagh’s critically-acclaimed drama Belfast. For his performance in the film, he is currently nominated for an Oscar Award for Best Supporting Actor. The upcoming miniseries also marks Cox and Hinds’ latest collaboration after starring together on AMC+’s crime drama Kin.

Described as Bodyguard meets John Le Carre, Treason will be written and executive produced by Bridge of Spies‘ Matt Charman, who will also serve as the showrunner. Joining Cox and Hinds are previously announced female leads Olga Kurylenko (Quantum of Solace, Black Widow) and Oona Chaplin (Game of Thrones).
“The miniseries centers around Adam Lawrence, trained and groomed by MI6, whose career seems set,” reads the synopsis. “But when the past catches up with him in the form of Kara, a Russian spy with whom he shares a complicated past, he is forced to question everything and everyone in his life. A triangular relationship forms between Kara, Adam and his wife, Maddy; three people who are trying to expose each other’s secrets, navigate political and diplomatic relationships, whilst hanging onto their personal lives, and those they love most.”
