The streak of surprising WWE releases continues as Toni Storm is no longer in the company. The 26-year-old was previously a part of WWE SmackDown on Fox.

The news comes after Storm had been receiving her first push since being called up to the main roster earlier this year. The former NXT UK Women’s Champion unsuccessfully challenged Charlotte Flair on SmackDown last week for the SmackDown’s Women’s Championship. Just a week before, Storm had pinned Flair.
According to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, those within the company believe that Storm asked for her release, although this isn’t confirmed. WWE hasn’t officially commented on the release and hasn’t officially confirmed recent releases like the company traditionally has done in the past via its website.

Storm signed a WWE contract in 2018 and made her first appearance after participating in the 2017 Mae Young Classic. A fan-favorite wrestler in NXT, Storm didn’t receive much of a push after being called up earlier this year until recently.
