According to Deadline, Grey’s Anatomy vet Justin Chambers has officially been cast to join Miles Teller in Paramount+’s forthcoming limited series The Offer, centering around the making of The Godfather. Chambers is set to portray the role of the acclaimed actor Marlon Brando, who famously played the leading role of mafia boss Vito Corleone in the classic 1972 film.
This marks Chambers’ first major TV project in over a year following his surprise exit from the long-running ABC medical drama Grey’s Anatomy. He had been playing the role of Alex Karev for sixteen seasons and was part of the series’ original main cast which included Sandra Oh, T.R. Knight, Katherine Heigl, and still remaining lead Ellen Pompeo.

In addition to Chambers, Paramount+ has also enlisted a bunch of cast members including Burn Gorman for the series regular role of volatile head of Gulf & Western, Charles Bluhdorn. The thirteen other actors that are set to join the miniseries for recurring roles are listed below along with a brief description of their characters:
- Patrick Gallo (The Irishman) as the author of The Godfather and award-winning screenwriter, Mario Puzo.
- Josh Zuckerman (Austin Powers in Goldmember) as veteran Hollywood executive Peter Bart, who was the one that hired Francis Ford Coppola to direct the film.
- Meredith Garretson (Resident Alien) as Ali MacGraw in the early years of her career
- Nora Arnezeder (Safe House) as the wife of producer Al Ruddy and owner of Chateau Marmont, Francoise Glazer.
- Paul McCrane (All Rise) as Jack Ballard, Paramount Pictures’ head of physical production.
- Anthony Skordi (Catch-22) as the infamous mafioso and head of the five crime families, Carlo Gambino.
- Jake Cannavale (The Mandalorian) as a loyal Colombo family soldier named Caesar.
- James Madio (Jersey Boys) as a soldier in the Colombo crime family
- Michael Rispoli (The Deuce) as Tommy Lucchese, head of one of the five mafia crime families.
- Stephanie Koenig (The Flight Attendant) as Andrea Eastman, head of casting for Paramount Pictures.
- Lou Ferrigno (The Incredible Hulk) as former wrestler and mob enforcer Lenny Montana who played the role of Luca Brasi in the film.
- Frank John Hughes (Catch Me If You Can) as legendary singer Frank Sinatra.
- Danny Nucci (The Fosters) as Congressman Mario Biaggi, an influential politician with his sights set on The Godfather.
Based on the never-before-seen experiences of Oscar and Golden Globe-winning producer Albert S. Ruddy, The Offer follows Ruddy’s journey in bringing Mario Puzo’s epic crime novel The Godfather to life on the big screen, which was directed by Francis Ford Coppola from a screenplay written by Puzo. Led by Marlon Brando and Al Pacino, the 1972 film had earned three major Oscar awards out of seven nominations, including Best Picture. Due to its success, it spawned two more sequels in 1974 and 1990.
The limited series will be led by Whiplash star Miles Teller as Al Ruddy, Emmy nominee Matthew Goode as Robert Evans, Dan Fogler (Fantastic Beasts films) as Francis Ford Coppola, Giovanni Ribisi (Sneaky Pete) as crime boss Joe Colombo, Colin Hanks (Fargo) as Barry Lapidus, and Juno Temple (Ted Lasso) as Bettye McCartt.

The Offer is written and executive produced by Nikki Toscano and Michael Tolkin, with Toscano also serving as the showrunner. Rocketman director Dexter Fletcher has also signed on to helm the project. Executive producers are Teller, Ruddy, and Leslie Grief.
A film adaptation about the making of The Godfather titled Francis and The Godfather is also currently in development from Academy Award winner Barry Levinson. It will star Oscar Isaac as Coppola, Jake Gyllenhaal as Robert Evans, and Elisabeth Moss.
