The podcast, titled Rebel Robin: Surviving Hawkins, will be written and directed by Lauren Shippen, Hawke, and Sean Maher. The podcast will focus on Robin and her favorite teacher, Mr. Hauser, as they meet regularly to discuss philosophy, books, friendship, independence, and more. A coming of age story about the struggle of being different in a small town, Surviving Hawkins will explore how learning to be ourselves is truly the bravest thing we can do because it brings out the scariest monster of all: the judgment of other people.
Alongside the podcast, a new Young Adult Novel, Stranger Things: Rebel Robin, is being written by acclaimed author A.R. Capetta and will be published by Random House Books for young readers ages 14 and up. The book will focus on the beginning of Robin’s sophomore year in high school. Her “Odd Squad” group of friends think that it’s time for them to fit in, but Robin doesn’t know exactly how she can be her true self in the small town of Hawkins, Indiana.
Stranger Things is set in the 1980s in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana. When a young boy vanishes, a small town uncovers a mystery involving secret experiments, terrifying supernatural forces, and one strange little girl.
